House for Drifters. Philippines.

20 May 2017

...When you do something many times and have a passion for it you become a master. Even if you don't want. You love it, you dream it, you are ready to do it 27 hours a day. There is no fear of doing it, because you have the experience, passion and love... It relates to everything.

The same is with the wild independent travels, far from the beaten path's and tracks. When you do it in different way-the way you like it, despite of the rules and what the others do, you create the masterpiece, which is hard to repeat to the others.

Philippines became one more challenge for us.We wanted to do it in a way we like it-find the boat and go wherever we want. Camp on the wild beaches, cook on a camp fire, have the stars over our heads every night, find the treasure...We always get more than we want...

Manila

Sometimes I don't want to take the big camera and lenses. That's how it was this time. I've taken only small Canon G16. Camera jpeg's come out nice and it saves a lot of editing time. The camera is small, you can easily have it in your pocket and it's easy to take it out at anytime even when you are drunk and lazy.

Lena had Canon Mark iii, so here you'll see the mix of photographs from both cameras.

Coron Island looked awesome, the whole coastal line was rocky cliffs, sometimes divided with the small wild beaches. I found it in internet by searching photos and used google earth to download and print the map of the whole Coron Island with all it's beaches and  bays.

Lena bought lots of umbrellas to use one per day to be sure that it doesn't leak, but decided to get rid of them all to the beginning of our trip because she didn't like the colours. We disided to give all of them as a present to the local air company to make their flights more bright.

It was the short 45 min flight to Busuanga Airport and they gave us the refreshment lunch which was one chicken bun and a bottle of water. I wish I didn't eat it. I had a stomach aсhe and farted a lot, that's why the plane came to Busuanga 5 minutes earlier.

Please don't eat that buns and come in time.

There was the red cross mark on our map as a sign for treasure. Certainly we decided to go there. We needed a boat!

Nobody was looking for a treasures in Coron Town, that's why everybody were booking one day trips and going in the overcrowded boats to the North Coron Island. We even heard from the backpackers that there is no beach and it's difficult to find one. That what happens when you follow the beaten path....

We found the boat with skipper close to Lagrosa Backpackers hostel pier and got nearly half price discount from the owner. The boat with amazing skipper, fuel and "go where we want" was only 13000 pesos for 8 days. It's 350 Australian Dollars all together and it's cheap!

We've bought all the necessary food at the local market, took the fresh water 2 liters p/p per day, loaded it on the boat, cut the lines and set free for the long 8 sunny days.

As you can see, the look from the bow and stern were mind blowing. All the tourist overcrowded places were left behind and we could freely go south and look for the wild beach to camp.

It was the east coast. Our skipper Hose was saying that it's better to go to the west coast of Coron Island, because he was more familiar with it and there should be the less swell. Salty dog Dimi Kash (me) managed to convince him to go clock wise and make the loop.

I showed him the map. He put his glasses on, stared at the map for a long time and when I showed him the capes and beaches he looked like he got it all and gave me a nod. In fact the next morning he confessed that he doesn't understand anything in maps but navigates with stars and sun all his life.

When he didn't know where to go, I was taking out the map from my pocket, reading it and and showing him the direction where we wanted to go. It was enough and he always pointed the bow of his boat wherever we told him. He was a perfect skipper!

Sure we found the wild beach to camp. Hose was always sleeping in his boat as a dog faithful to his master.

...-I'll remember you all my live, it's unforgettable,-Hose said one day

-You are great, Hose. It's always nice and easy to be with you. Could you tell what's the one of the most interesting things that you remember?

-For example, when you asked me to stop the engine in the middle of nowhere to let Lena go in the water and piss...

-What's wrong with it? All the dolphins do the same....

-The thing is I never do it, because there are the sharks!!

You can see the face expression during this action down below...There is the big relief and relaxation but no sharks!

Our boat finally stuck it's nose in the sand of the wild beautiful beach which was marked as the red cross on the old pirate's chart.

One morning she crawled up to me with the sparkles in her eyes and with the conspirator voice whispered to my ear:" I found it!"

It was the house..

On the flat sandy spot polished with the wind we noticed the old wooden edge of something protruding the surface. It looked like a part of something antique and we decided to dig....

...and drink...

...the house for drifters...

The stop, the meeting spot, the base, the event, the attachment, the asylum, the prison, the expectation, the reflection, the mistake, the beginning, the impossible, the pear, the part, the history, the inspiration, the choice, the miracle, the treasure, we are...

All what you choose-it can be yours...Don't read the rest, please...

Day after day amazing things were getting caught on the bait of magic perception...

The autumn in spring is a good example.

Lots of trees drop their leaves in spring! The trees start to bloom at the beginning of summer and get the fruits on their branches soon. All of it happens during the rain season in the middle of northern hemisphere summer. The local monkeys go down from the cliffs and wait for the fruits to appear. They eat them green, not ripe, because they are impatient like some of us.

It's a pleasure to clean your own beach from the fallen colours.

The pirates...

To find the place nobody know about you need to get lost.

She put the mask on and went to catch some shells for the delicacy dinner. Tunday Rum, cooked and cut molluscs with grounded black pepper, garlic and ginger. What can be better for a wild catch dinner!

You don't want to come back....You want to continue to go with the wind, drift, burn the fire, dance with stars...

There in only one reflection in your eyes even when you come ashore-the sea. The wild frightening pirate smile you dreamed about is on your face now...

The boats were waiting for the proper time to go out and we were intoxicated by unreality of the presence without any rum...

Sunburned curly stranger all dressed in black was trying to stop the black black car...

The high black boots, short black skirt, half wet strict jacket and charged with one bullet antique pistol were packed and mixed with another women's stuff in her black road bag, which was full of another smuggling things.

She smelled something tasty and was trying to catch some more molecules to identify the needed direction properly...
