Zoe & Majid. Whitehaven beach, helicopter, elopement wedding.
...they didn't know where to get married, Bora Bora or the Whitehaven Beach, Australia. Bora Bora looked amazing and located more far, in a middle of nowhere than the Whitsundays. But....you need much more documents to get married officially in Bora Bora and it's more complicated. You need only your passports in Australia. They know how to attract the couples, don't they?
Zoe and Majid asked me to be their photographer on the Whitehaven beach and secured the place in a helicopter. We did have only 1.5 hours. For me it's a really short time, because sometimes you play about half an hour only with helicopter to get the proper, beautiful shots.
The wind, the sun, the water, the pure white sand, the very red helicopter and you....
The wind helped us with vale and was cooling our bodies down. There was nobody close to us and it looked unreal. I was using wide angle 16-35mm lens to get the perspective shots, asking them to be natural and pretend that I'm not there.
You know, when you have only 1.5 hours, you need a time for yourself, no photography. Yes, we did have that 5 minutes. Sparkling wine, love in the air and whispering waves...It was the proper timing, the end of September. The wind was like a gift for us. I can't imagine the weather better than that.
We did some photos with the helicopter and on the beach later. We even went in the water for "Trash the dress" shots, where they got wet, kissing under the sparkling sun. All is possible, but it's never enough. Especially for such a place.
The helicopter route itself was spectacular. We've made a loop. We went to the Hamilton Island over the Pioneer Rocks and Shute Harbour, through south Whitehaven to the mid Whitehaven beach, where we've spent an amazing time. After the taking off from the beach we went to the Hill Inlet, made the loop over it, went over the abandoned Hook Island resort with the small underwater observatory and lost our minds on the way back. That's how beautiful it was. I can't imagine something better.
